Mom,
Tell me everything is going to be alright.
Tell me you’re proud of me.
Tell me how you’re doing.
Tell me you’re thinking about me.
Tell me you’re coming to visit.
Tell me you love me.
Tell me about the good old days.
Tell me something funny.
Tell me you’re always here.
Tell me to do my best.
Tell me to hold onto hope.
Tell me to do it afraid.
Tell me you’re rooting for me.
Tell me you’ll never leave my side.
Please Mom, I miss you.
I miss your gentle voice, your loving, intentional words. I miss what you said and the way you made me feel: always safe, seen, understood, and loved.
I miss your stories, lessons, and encouragement. I miss your calls, emails, and greeting cards.
I miss your healing words, forever a balm for my soul. Although they are gone, your love still speaks to me. Your gentle voice forever echoing in the spaces of my precious memories and tender heart.
